This is the first year in many that Kidlet2 has not played baseball. Although he still plays soccer, I am really enjoying the extra time now that I do not have to rush him between two different sports. With the arrival of baseball season (or any activity, really) routines may change due to practices and games. Here are a few practical tips to help you prepare:
- Create a “practice” tote bag to keep in the car. Stock with items to use while waiting on the kids including snacks, note cards, paperwork, magazines, water or weather supplies such as sunscreen, blankets or umbrellas.
- Use a bleacher seat to support your back during the games.
- Network with other team moms for carpooling duties.
- Utilize your crock-pot on practice nights. A hot meal will be ready when you get home.
- Stock the car with plastic bags for dusty cleats and stinky clothes.
- Grab the calendar to catch up on scheduling. You can get a lot accomplished in an hour!
- Don’t forget the first aid kit and ice packs!
- Stock up on water, Gatorade or other drinks for your thirsty athletes.

I’m tired just thinking about future “soccer momming.” Thanks for the tips! I’ll need them for the 2015 t-ball season.
Yay! You will have plenty of time to pack the bag up!
Great tips! I really need to work on being more organized.
Awesome suggestions! I always forget about snacks. Having something for the kids to munch on would make my life much easier!
It does, it does… snacks cure all. Thanks for stopping by Renee!
I’m going to have to file these tips away for when my son reaches the group sport age! Thankfully, I have several years to go.
Hi Laura…it comes quickly so I’m glad that when he is playing, you will be ready!
If I had been as organized as you I wouldn’t have been so stressed as a basketball mom the past two years! It’s a lot toting the tot around to all the games, a coloring book and crayons were a must to occupy her in the stands!
