Welcome Ultimate Blog Party friends!
I am so excited to participate in this event again this year! I had such a blast last year and was thrilled when Susan and Janice set up the plans for UBP 2012!
For any visitors who are not sure what in the world I am talking about, please check out The Ultimate Blog Party that is hosted by 5 Minutes for Mom. It is a weeklong event (April 13th to the 20th) and an opportunity for bloggers to visit new sites and make new blogging friends. Oh yeah, there are prizes too!
So, now that you are here, let me fill you in on Simply Sandwich.
About Me:
I am a never stay-at-home wife and mom of two kidlets, 18 and 13. Although my oldest is now in college, life still keeps me busy managing our home, part-time work for my husband and all of the activities of my middle school son. My mother, who used to live in our guesthouse, recently moved to a long-term care facility and as an only child; I am now her full time advocate and visitor. I am smack-dab in the middle of the Sandwich Generation and trying to balance it all.
Blog Mission:
Simply Sandwich offers a community for members of the Sandwich Generation. Here you will find support, dialogue and simple solutions for any busy mom. I write about the joys, tears and laughter of family happenings by highlighting teen activities and senior situations. I invite you to check out my About page for more details about the Simply Sandwich mission.
I generally post three days a week and I anticipate bringing back my weekly posts on how to “Keep Your Sandwich Simple” soon. I am also really excited because this month, I launched the KYSS award to recognize bloggers who provide support to Sandwich Mamas through simplified methods, demonstration of character and inspiration in managing a busy family.
For a sneak peak at some of my posts, I encourage you to check out some of my samples below:
Middle School Madness – preparing for the first day of middle school
Words from the (not so) Wise – about dropping my daughter off at college
Don’t Take the Car! – safety tips for senior drivers
Just Three Little Words – a recent Sandwich Mama revelation
Thank you so much for visiting and I would love it if you would let me know you were here so I can get to know you better!
xoxo Paula

Thanks so much for stopping by – heading over to your place now!
Paula, Very funny…I have 2 teens. Both are in high school now and we have survived the Middle School Madness. I found it much worse of a transition than high school. The clothes were a much bigger deal to the girl(no surprise) than the boy. Now that the school year is nearly finished, I hope you kidlet has found and enjoying his middle school way!

Thanks Debbie! Yes, I think he has. We went to Open House recently and he saw a bunch of sixth graders checking out their new school for the next year. He said, “Oh brother, these 6th graders are so annoying!” Hahaha. What a difference a year makes!
Hi Paula, so fun to find a familiar face at this fun Ultimate Blog Party 2012. I’m doing a round-up of fellow caregivers, grandparents, and Sandwich Generation families tomorrow, along with any other fun resources for us, so do stop by. I think you’ll recognize at least one.
Have a great time!

I thank you so much for introducing me to the fun. Will pop over for the round-up!
Hi from the #UBP12! I am also a stay at home wife and mother of 2. My oldest is 12 so I can definitely relate to the middle school post, and my youngest is 4. Most of my friends who are my age have kids who are just starting college. I guess I started late. (story of my life. haha) My son is also in 7th grade this year and what a difference a year makes. Your post titled “Don’t Take the Car” is going to be helpful to me in the near future with my own parents. I am now following you on FB. Can’t wait to read more!

Hi Dana and thanks for stopping by! You seem to have your hands full and I am popping over to visit you!
What a great mission you have! I know so many moms who could use your support.
My mission for UBP12 is get 100 comments on my party post! (That seems so trite compared to your mission!) I hope you’ll stop by.

I have four small children (the oldest is 6), however my mom is already very sick, so it may not be long before I have to take care of her too.

Thanks Cascia for the visit. Will head over to check your blog out!
WOW! I like what your blog stands for and think it sounds great. I will be following you for sure! I have 2 in college as well and 2 more home, just because they are older, it does not mean it is easier or less busy. I hope you have time to check my blog out as well. http://richjmylife.blogspot.com/2012/04/ubp12-let-party-begin.html

Hi and welcom Jolene! You are right – I think older = way more busy than ever! Thanks for stopping by!
Yay, I love your #UBP12 post and what a great mission. Heather over at CafeSmom.com might be a good partner for you on occasion.
Also, big thanks for stopping by my new blog this week and taking the time to comment. It meant the world to me.
Hi Alissa and thanks for the tip about Heather – I will zoom over and check her blog out!
Thank you for visiting my blog. I have a 6 year old and I am also the POA for my elderly parents — both are nearing the end of their battles with cancer. It has been overwhelming — being the main contact and “parent” for them (though I have two siblings).
Nice to know I’m not alone out here.
Blessings!
Beth

Michelle, thanks so much for stopping by! The UBP12 has been awesome!
Thanks so much for joining the party. We’ve been so busy since the party, we’re still trying to visit through the linky lists. So many awesome sites, we’ll be hopping for weeks.
I like the name of your blog. The first time I heard the term Sandwich Generation was several years back and I hope my mom lives long enough for me to be in that position. My mom is 70 now and is starting to struggle with her health.
Thanks so much for stopping by Susan! The UBP was awesome and I am looking forward to next year! Great job!
